On The Day of Hungarian Culture, January 22, the Ferenczy Museum Center opened its two newest exhibitions, Framing the Story and Phantom Thread III.
The exhibitions were opened by sociologist and art historian Anna Wessely, highlighting the message that these exhibitions are reframings of existing collections, which show visitors a new, never-before-seen perspective. The exhibition titled Frame Stories guides visitors through the defining eras and turning points of Szentendre’s artistic life in a thematic structure, which also includes the artistic heritage of the Ferenczy family, the Old Artists’ Colony, the New Artists’ Colony, the Vajda Lajos Studio and the Szentendre Graphic Workshop.
One of the special features of the exhibition is that it tries to involve visitors as much as possible in the exhibition. The curators worked closely with museum educators Gabriella György, Levente Novák and Tünde Sütő to install exciting, tactile elements in the exhibition, thus making the exhibition more accessible. Five curators worked on the exhibition, and we can see their perspectives come to life in the exhibition space. Emőke Bodonyi, Zsuzsa Iberhalt, Zsuzsanna Kozák, Brigitta Muladi and Noémi Szabó.
The exhibition entitled Fantomszál III. – In Search of Artists’ Wives presents the life journey of Károly Ferenczy’s wife, Olga Fialka, through the eyes of the curator, Dalma Eged. The exhibition is not only organically connected to the exhibition entitled Frame Stories, but also stands on its own, thanks to its powerful and valid message. It aims to highlight the possibilities and equal importance of male and female roles, as well as the diversity of family and professional collaborations.
At the opening of the exhibition, welcoming speeches were given by Eszter Vitályos, Member of Parliament, Máté Vincze, Deputy Secretary of State for Public Collections and Cultural Development, and Zsolt Fülöp – Mayor of Szentendre. We would like to thank them for their participation in the opening.
The exhibitions can be visited at the Ferenczy Museum from Thursday to Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
