New Exhibition in the Szentendre Gallery

2026. 04. 28.

The exhibition Back to the Future opened on Saturday at the Szentendre Gallery. Director Anna Borbély-Tardy and architect Veronika B. Szabó welcomed the guests at the opening, and the exhibition was opened by social historian Dr. Zsombor Bódy.

The Back to the Future exhibition, linked to the centenary of the Old Artists’ Colony, presents the transformation of the city, its actors and development dilemmas with the help of contemporary photos.

The previously mainly Serbian-led, small-town settlement has been looking for new paths of development since the 1920s. Mayors arriving from outside envisioned modernization, infrastructure development and a future based on tourism, while local disputes also shaped the fate of the city.

The turning point was the support of the artists’ colony in 1926, which laid the foundation for the artistic image of Szentendre.

Curator: Zsófia Júlia Szilágyi

The exhibition will be open until October 4, 2026!

We would like to thank everyone who attended the opening, and we look forward to seeing you at the new exhibition at the Szentendre Art Gallery from Thursday to Sunday, between 10 am and 6 pm.
