The Ferenczy Museum Centre attaches great importance to supporting talented young artists and their careers. The museum announced a competition for participation in its two-week summer artist colony, open to students of two art universities each in Hungary and the neighbouring countries.

The NESTArt – Szentendre’s Summer Artist Base seeks to introduce the young generation of artists to Szentendre’s rich artistic traditions in an accessible and experiential manner. The artist colony is held in the inspirational creative space of the ArtMill, between 7 and 20 July 2025, with Szentendre-based visual artist Barbara Nagy acting as mentor. This period allows the participants to create freely and think together.

The members of the artist colony not only worked on their own competition pieces but also had a chance to learn the technique of screen printing in the Szentendre Printmaking Workshop. The completed works will be on view in the exhibition space of the Vajda Museum until 31 August.

The call for proposals that NESTArt publishes each year is related to the individual mode of expression of a different Szentendre-based artist, with no restrictions on form and style. In 2025, the Artist Base pays tribute to Jenő Barcsay, who was born 125 years ago, and whose spirit and artistic commitment may provide inspiration for the young artists.
